Madrasa Noorul Irfan Arabic College, established in 1967, is an institution of distinction founded by the esteemed Sufi saint and Arabi-Malayalam poet, Al Mujaddid Asshaikh Assayyid Muhammed Jalaludheen Al Idrosiyyu Al Jeeliyyunnooriyyu A.I. Muthukoya Thangal (Q.S), fondly known as Bani Shaikhuna (Q.S) (the founder). His profound vision was to institutionalize ‘Ilm-u-Tasawwuf’, the mystical dimensions of Islam, creating a timeless educational structure that reflects this sacred knowledge. The unique academic foundation conceptualized by Bani Shaikhuna (Q.S) himself has guided this institution from its inception to the present day.
After the passing of Bani Shaikhuna (Q.S), the legacy was entrusted to his beloved disciple, Asshaikh Assayyid Muhammad Kamaluddeen Jeeliyyul Qadiriyyu Sufiyy (Q.S) (Manjeri Shaiquna), with leadership later carried forward by the son of Bani Shaikhuna (Q.S), Asshaikh Assayyid Shihabudheen Koyathangal K.P. Al Qadiriyyu Sufiyyu (Q.S). Under their esteemed leadership, Madrasa Noorul Irfan has flourished, pioneering the spread of ‘Ilm-u-Tasawwuf’ and traditional Islamic knowledge across India.
The success of Madrasa Noorul Irfan Arabic College led to the establishment of several institutions, including Faizul Hafiz Hifzul Quran & Doukul Irfan Arabic College, Al Irfan Boarding Madrasa, Noorul Hafiz Hifzul Quran College, and Al Irfan Da’wa College. Each institution follows the principles of Madrasa Noorul Irfan Arabic College and teachings, offering modern and traditional education interwoven with ‘Ilm-u-Tasawwuf’, fostering students in the path of spiritual and academic excellence.

Bani - the founder
Shaikhuna (Q.S), known with profound reverence as Bani Noorul Irfan (the founder), was born in 1910 on Androth Island in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, to the noble and pious lineage of Sayyid Idros Thangakoya Thangal (Q.S) of Puthiyaillathuappura and Ayshayyapura Valiyabeevi. His birth was a blessing to the world of spirituality, where he emerged as a luminous star, guiding countless disciples along the path of spiritual wisdom across nations.
In addition to founding Madrasa Noorul Irfan Arabic College, Shaiquna (Q.S) established a distinguished network of Mahlarathul Qadiriya across various regions of Kerala and U T of Lakshadweep. These centers serve as sacred spaces for his devoted disciples, enabling them to engage deeply in spiritual practices and embody the noble teachings of their guide with unwavering reverence.
The profound influence of Shaikhuna endures through his devoted disciples, who continue to uphold and advance his noble legacy. A paragon of both mysticism and poetic genius, Shaiquna graced the world with revered works, including ‘Thajul Akbar (Yusuf Qissa)’, ‘Fathima Beevi Wafath maala’, ‘Wajibath & Thouheed Maala’, ‘Maa’rifath Maala’, ‘Muhiyiddeen Maala and Asraarul Muhakhikheen’. These compositions remain treasured sources of wisdom, embodying his spiritual insight and poetic excellence for generations to come.

Born in 1931 on the sacred land of Androth Island, in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Quthubul AkmalAsshaikhAssayyid Muhammad Kamaludheen Al Jeeliyyul Qadiryyu Sufiyy (Q.S) hailed from the noble lineage of Komalam Sayyid Abu Salih Nallakoya Thangal and Meriyammada Attabi. His ardent quest for spiritual enlightenment led him to BaniShaikhuna (Q.S), to whom he pledged unwavering dedication, devoting his life to advancing the profound mission of his esteemed spiritual master. In the spiritual circles, he is venerated as Manjeri Shaiquna, a name that resonates with deep respect and admiration.
Through his steadfast commitment, Madrasa Noorul Irfan Arabic College flourished, embodying the vision entrusted to him by Bani Shaikhuna (Q.S) and attaining its full stature as a beacon of Islamic learning. Manjeri Shaikhuna (Q.S) was also a gifted literary scholar, authoring ‘Al Fathhurabbani’ (Malayalam translation), ‘Hidayathussalikeen’, and ‘Buqari Maala’, each a testament to his intellectual and spiritual depth.
Today, his enduring legacy lives on through revered institutions at Manjeri and Kunnathery, illuminating new generations with the timeless teachings of his spiritual path.
Quthubul Vujood Asshaikh Assayyid Shihabudheen K.P. Koya Thangal Al Qadiriyyu Sufiyyu (Q.S)
Shaikhuna graced this world on the 12th of August 1952, on the Androth island, Union Territory of Lakshadweep. He descended from a noble lineage as the 23rd grandson of the great Gouzul-Aa’lam Assayyid Muhyidheen Abdul Qadir Al-Jeelani (Q.S). His blessed parents, Asshaikh Assayyid Muhammed Jalaluddeen A.I. Muthukoya Thangal Al-Qadiri As-Sufi (Q.S) (Bani Noorul Irfan) and Puradam Habsabeebi, nurtured him with immense spiritual wisdom and values from his earliest days.
Through unwavering dedication, our beloved Shaikh (Q.S) transformed ‘Madrasa Noorul Irfan Arabic College’ into an esteemed institution, extending its reach into modern education. His visionary leadership established a range of pioneering educational endeavors that stand as a testament to his profound commitment to knowledge and spirituality.
